Albert William Christian Theodore Herre (16. september 1868, Toledo, Ohio osariik, USA – 16. jaanuar 1962, Santa Cruz, California osariik, USA[1]) oli Ameerika Ühendriikide ihtüoloog ja lihhenoloog.[2]
1903. aastal kaitses ta Stanfordi Ülikoolis bakalaureusekraadi botaanikas. Samas sai Herre ka magistri- ja doktorikraadi ihtüoloogias.[3]
Töö Filipiinidel[muuda | muuda lähteteksti]
Albert W. Herre on tuntud eeskätt töö poolest kalade taksonoomia vallas Filipiinidel, kus ta 1919–1928 oli kalandusjuht Manilas asuvas riiklikus teadusbüroos. Tollal USA-le allunud Filipiinide saarevalitsuse (Insular Government of the Philippine Islands) teadusbüroos töötades avastas ja kirjeldas Herre mitmeid uusi kalaliike, kelle seas on näiteks imeline falloskurk.[4]
Mälestuse jäädvustamine[muuda | muuda lähteteksti]
Herre auks on nimetatud üks Filipiinide endeemseid gekoliike Lepidodactylus herrei.[5]
