Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (24. mai (14. mai vkj) 1686 – 16. september 1736) oli Poolas sündinud saksa füüsik, leiutaja ja mõõteriistade valmistaja. Ta leiutas piisavalt täpse kraadiklaasi, et seda kasutada erinevate vaatlejate ja mõõteriistade võrdlemiseks.^[1] Lisaks peetakse teda elavhõbedaga kraadiklaasi leiutajaks, millega sai asendada ebatäpsemad alkoholiga kraadiklaasid. Tema mõõteriistade populaarsus viis Fahrenheiti skaala laialdase kasutuselevõtuni.^[2]
