Maroonid on orjusest põgenenud ja oma kogukonnad moodustanud aafriklaste järeltulijad Ameerikas ja India ookeani saartel. Nad on tihti indiaanlastega segunenud ning seeläbi tekitanud oma kreoolkultuurid, nagu garifunad või mascogod.
