in the church. Thereare doorways on the west and south, and on the east is a large choirof later date than the church, consisting of a single square groinedbay and a semicircular apse. A smaller apse, hollowed in the thick-ness of the wall, opens from the eastern bay of the upper aisle. The exterior is simple and elegant. The walls are of stone, andare divided into bays both in the lower and the upper portions.The high aisle wall has a series of slender engaged shafts, withbases on a low plinthcourse and block capi-tals of various designat the cornice, joinedby an arched corbel-table. The treatmentof the upper wall issimilar, except thatthin pilasters are sub-stituted for the col-umns. The doorw^aysare round arches withjamb-shafts and archmouldings, the capi-tals bearing stuntedhuman fiirures andrudely conventional-ized foliage, the archhead filled with a stoneslab bearino an in-scription.
