Sama nime kandis ka Gruusia vaimulik: Prince David Ilych Abashidze. b. at Bedzhiny, Tiflis, 12th October 1867, educ. Tiflis Theological Seminary, Novorossiykij Imperial Univ., Odessa, and Theological Acad., Kazan. Entered the priesthood with the name of Demetre 16th November 1891, deacon 21/11/1891, priest 1896, Insp. Kutais Theological Seminary 1897-1898, Insp. Tiflis Theological Seminary 1898-1900 (expelled Stalin from this Seminary), Rector Alexandrovsky Ardonsky missionary seminary as Archimandrite 1900-1902, Consecrated as Bishop if Aliverdi at St Alexander Nesvki Cathedral, Tiflis, 23rd April 1902, consecrated as Bishop of Gurijsko 4th November 1903, of Baltsk 16th June 1906, of Turkistan abd Tashkent 20th January 1907, and of Tauris and Simferopol 25th June 1912, prom. Archbishop 6th May 1915, resig. 14th September 1921, actg. Bishop of Feodosiya 1922-1923, imprisoned at Simferopol 1923, exiled to Kiev 1923-1929, took the schema with the name of Antoni 1928, imprisoned in the Lukyanov prison Kiev 1933, revived the Ukranian Autonomous Church 1941. He d. at Live, 1st November 1942 (bur. Kiev Caves Lavra). [1]
