Because the cross skiing were held at Rumford (Maine), schedule was modified. The Nordic combined was divided: Jumping was held on February 1st at Lake Placid, the 18km was included in the "Special 18km run" (like in 1948 and later championships) and was carried out on February 3rd at Rumford. On Sunday, February 5th, there were two events held: The Special Jumping at Lake Placid and the 4x10 km at Rumford. 50km was carried out on February 6th, and after that run the final ceremony did finish the event. I would like to suggest that you may read the German or Finnish Wikipedia - in the German one you can find all the sources (and if you are able to read German you could be informed about further results, race reports and troubles for medias who had to change to Rumford. There was no connection from Lake Placid to Rumford. Officials and the athletes did change with verhicles, the medias did use aeroplanes or trains. At last they had to go back to N.Y. from where they could move to Rumford. Media bureaus at Lake Placid hat to move to Rumford too.
