English: Coat of arms of Zacatecas; Stamped with the royal crown with a single field, an elevation predominates that represents the emblematic hill of La Bufa, at whose feet the city was born in 1546, as a result of the discovery of the rich silver mines. In the most eminent part of the hill appears an image of the Virgin Mary, because this hill and the mines were discovered on the day the Catholic Church celebrates the feast of the Nativity of the Virgin; below, the monogram of Felipe II, as a testimony of whom he granted the coat of arms to the city. At the two upper ends of the shield float the sun and the moon in an intense blue sky. At the foot of the hill there are four portraits of people in the field of Captain Cristóbal de Oñate, main founders, miners and settlers of Zacatecas; below them appears the Motto Labor Vincit Omnia ("Labour Conquers All"), which was taken from a verse from the Georgics in which Virgil sings the apotheosis of work; …Labor omnia vincit, Improbus, et duris urgens in rebús egestas. (Hard work wins over everything, even the misery that it stimulates in the arduous tests). ; and on the border, five bundles of arrows and intertwined with another five bows, which are the weapons used by the aforementioned Chichimeca Indians.

En los dos extremos superiores del escudo flotan el sol y la luna en un cielo de color azul intenso. En la falda del cerro hay cuatro retratos de personas en campo de el capitán Cristóbal de Oñate, principales fundadores, mineros y pobladores de Zacatecas; debajo de ellos aparece el Lema Labor Vincit Omnia ("El Trabajo Lo Vence Todo"), que fue tomado de un verso de las Geórgicas en el que Virgilio canta la apoteosis del trabajo; …Labor omnia vincit, Improbus, et duris urgens in rebús egestas.
