Blizzard Entertainment
Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. on Ameerika Ühendriikide videomänge tootev firma, mis asutati 8. veebruaril 1991 Silicon & Synapse'i nime all.[1] Firma asutasid Michael Morhaime, Allen Adham ja Frank Pearce, kes on California ülikooli lõpetanud.[2] Firma asub Californias Irvine'is.[3]
1998. aastal ostis firma ära Vivendi ning see sai Vivendi Gamesi allüksuseks. 2008. aastal liideti Vivendi Games ja Activision Inc. tehingu käigus üheks firmaks, mille nimeks sai Activision Blizzard.[4] 2022. aastal ostis Microsoft Activision Blizzardi 68,7 miljardi dollari eest.[5][6]

Prior to the release of Warcraft: Orcs & Humans, Blizzard served as a third-party developer, creating entertainment software for various platforms, including DOS, Macintosh, Sega Genesis, and Super Nintendo. The company's best-known titles from this era include Rock 'n Roll Racing, The Lost Vikings, Blackthorne, and The Death and Return of Superman.
